Accent Modification Classes

You can change your accent or dialect through directed practice in private or small group classes. We use a variety of techniques to help you learn the sounds of English, American English word stress, and intonation patterns.

All materials are provided for all classes, and all instruction is personalized. Individual classes are held in our Jackson Street office or over the Internet. Small group classes can be scheduled at a corporate site or in our Jackson Street office.

Your instructor is a native Californian who has taught English grammar and pronunciation abroad and locally. Her hobbies are learning Spanish and Japanese, so she is sensitive to the needs of people who have learned other languages or dialects.

Individual rates $125 per hour
Small group (2-3 people) rates $90 per hour

Self-study plan $400
A self-study plan includes an analysis of your current speech patterns, recommended goals for change, and all materials needed to achieve your goals. Materials can include software, printed material, and audio files.

Humor and Cultural Literacy class

This lively 6-hour interactive class begins with a brief history of American humor. Next, we will review cultural events, typical US and international customs, and etiquette. Every session we will go on an adventure in listening to and telling funny stories, jokes, and riddles. Topics change quarterly.
Cost:    $250 (3-6 students)

Small Talk, Conversation, and Relationships

This exciting 6-hour interactive class shows you how to create opportunities for small talk anywhere with almost anybody. Learn what a conversation partner expects and how to work a room (interviews, meetings, conferences, presentations). We’ll also cover the language of dating and intimacy.
